Abe Dale (Nathan Fillion) has a fine job and an affectionate family- until one day his family is assassinated in front of his eyes by a man named Henry Caine (Craig Fairbrass) who afterward exterminates himself. Disturbed by guilt for not being able to save his family, Abe attempts suicide and virtually makes it but he resists being drawn to a 'bright white light' before dying, and lives on. But soon afterwards he starts noticing white glows around people and finds out that this radiance indicates these people are just going to die unless he saves them. Abe uses his novel gift to it's complete advantage and saves countless lives but he subsequently learns that 'if you save a life, you are responsible for it' and as he goes digging deeper into the causes behind his family's killing and the full degree of his new-found powers, it takes him on a horrifying and apocalyptic expedition into agony from which there will be no break away from.
