Brad Cairn (Sam Rockwell) is a married stockbroker living in New York City. Brad and Abby (Vera Farmiga) have a son Joshua (Jacob Kogan) who is nine years old. Their son is different from other kids. He is very smart and acts very mature for his young age even dressing in formal clothing. Things take a turn for the worse when his mother gives birth to a baby girl. Weird things start happening after the baby is brought home from the hospital. Joshua starts to engage in weird and disturbing behavior. He even kills a family pet. The family starts to worry about their own safety and whether they will be the next victims.
