The 2004 movie “Ladder 49” is about the life of firefighter Jack Morrison (Joaquin Phoenix). He is trying to be rescued by his crew and it’s chief Mike Kennedy (John Travolta) as he is caught in a burning warehouse. The film shows flashbacks of his life, starting when Jack joined the fire department. It also shows him meeting his future wife and raising his children. He eventually becomes a search and rescue member, against the wishes of his wife. He rescues a small girl trapped in a burning apartment and receives a Medal of Honor. During the current story, he is trapped by flames in the burning warehouse and tells his chief Mike to call off his rescue effort.
