Peter Soffel is the stuffy warden of a remote American prison around the turn of the century. His wife...
Set in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1901, this drama depicts a true story that shocked contemporary society. Kate Soffel is a warden's wife and devout Christian who regularly visits her husband's jail, handing out bibles and attempting to reform the convicts. But Ed Biddle, a seductive young man who claims he's been wrongly convicted of murder, leads the repressed Mrs. Soffel into temptation, convincing her to help him and his brother escape.
