Infamous depicts Truman Capote’s traumatic experiences researching and writing his acclaimed novel “In Cold Blood.” After seeing a small article in the NY Times about a murder in Kansas, Capote (Toby Jones) decides this is possibly the next novel he will write. Traveling to Kansas with his lifelong friend Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird, Capote begins settling in town to begin his research. After interviewing him, Capote becomes friendly with one of the murderers and eventually they develop a sort of mutual obsession. Capote’s involves finding out the true story of what happened during the murders and Perry Smith’s (Daniel Craig) obsession is in making sure he is depicted honestly. Interspersed in the film are interviews with Capote contemporaries Gore Vidal and Babe Paley, which at times give it a documentary feel.
